Fountain of Life Uganda (FOLU) recognizes that agriculture is the backbone of livelihoods in Otuke District and plays a critical role in food security, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability. The organization implements various agricultural interventions to support women, child mothers, and vulnerable households in building resilience through sustainable farming practices, environmental conservation, and access to water resources.
Environmental conservation is another priority, with FOLU distributing indigenous tree seedlings that absorb carbon, restore soil fertility, and act as pollinators. Tree planting and agroforestry training have encouraged farmers to integrate trees into their farming systems, improving resilience against climate change.
Furthermore, the organization advocates for sustainable water management through rainwater harvesting and small-scale irrigation techniques, ensuring that farming communities can sustain agricultural production even in dry seasons. These interventions have significantly improved agricultural productivity and household income while strengthening environmental sustainability.
Fountain of Life Uganda is a women-led indigenous/community-based organization that was formed in December, 2012 as a response strategy to address the challenges faced by women and girls in the community at a grass root level.
