Fountain of Life Uganda (FOLU) is dedicated to empowering women, youth, and marginalized groups in Otuke District through entrepreneurship and economic empowerment programs. Recognizing that poverty, unemployment, and financial dependency are major barriers to development, FOLU equips individuals with the skills, resources, and financial support needed to start and sustain income-generating activities. These interventions focus on vocational training, financial literacy, business development, and access to markets and microfinance opportunities.
A key aspect of FOLU’s entrepreneurship programs is vocational skills training, targeting child mothers, unemployed youth, and vulnerable women. The organization offers training in tailoring, beadwork, shea butter processing, beekeeping, kitchen gardening, and soap making.
These skills enable participants to create marketable products and establish small businesses that provide them with sustainable incomes. Through its business incubation programs, FOLU also supports trainees in developing their entrepreneurial mindset, marketing strategies, and product branding to enhance their competitiveness in the market
To further support entrepreneurship, FOLU provides financial literacy and business management training. Many women and youth in Otuke lack knowledge on budgeting, savings, investment, and financial planning, making it difficult for them to run successful businesses. FOLU trains individuals on record-keeping, pricing strategies, profit reinvestment, and customer service, ensuring that their enterprises remain sustainable. Additionally, the organization encourages participants to form savings and credit groups, allowing them to pool resources and access loans for business expansion
Access to financing is a major challenge for small business owners in Otuke. To address this, FOLU connects women and youth to microfinance institutions, cooperative savings groups, and small loan programs.
